What Is a t.me Link?
t.me links are Telegram's official short-link format for opening the app directly to a specific user, bot, channel, or group. When clicked on mobile, the Telegram app opens immediately to the correct conversation. On desktop, it loads in the Telegram desktop app or Web client.
Unlike WhatsApp, Telegram allows you to link by either a @username or a phone number. Username-based links are public — anyone with the URL can initiate a conversation. Phone-number-based links are limited to contacts who have mutual phone contacts permission enabled.
Username vs. Phone Number Links
